Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and the rights you have over all of it.
The short versionWe collect very little: your email address if you choose to give it, and the basic technical logs every website generates. We never sell your data. You can unsubscribe, or ask us to delete anything we hold about you, anytime, by emailing hello@couplenest.net.
1. Who we are
Couple Nest ("we", "us") operates the website couplenest.net and may offer mobile applications and related services (together, the "Services"). We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Services. Contact: hello@couplenest.net.
2. What we collect
Information you give us. If you sign up to hear from us, we collect your email address. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly all websites, our hosting infrastructure records basic technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security and to keep the site working. We do not run advertising trackers.
If you use our apps (when available), we may additionally process: account information you provide (such as a name and email), content you choose to create or share within the app, device and diagnostic information, and purchase records if you buy a subscription. Any content you share with a partner inside the app is treated as private to the two of you and is never used for advertising.
3. How we use it and our lawful bases
- To send you what you asked for (your email signup, including announcing what we are building) — basis: your consent, which you can withdraw anytime via the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
- To provide and operate the Services, including app features and purchases — basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep the Services secure and improve them — basis: our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights.
- To meet legal obligations where applicable.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our instructions: an email delivery provider (Kit) for the signup list, and hosting infrastructure for the website. App versions of the Services may additionally use app store payment processing (Apple, Google) and crash/diagnostic tooling, which we will name here when live. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
Email addresses stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Technical logs are retained briefly for security purposes. App account data, when applicable, is kept while your account is active and permanently deleted when you delete your account, except for records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax records, which we retain only for as long as the law requires.
7. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@couplenest.net and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have comparable rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and not be discriminated against; we do not sell or share personal information as defined by that law.
8. Deleting your account and data
For the email list: every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can request full deletion by writing to us. For app accounts (when available): you will be able to delete your account and associated data from within the app, or by emailing hello@couplenest.net from your account address. Deletion is immediate and permanent; we cannot recover your data afterwards. The only exception is records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax records. Deleting an account does not cancel any app store subscription; manage subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play settings.
9. Children
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, tell you by email or in the app. The current version always lives at couplenest.net/privacy/.
